Just after 6pm ths evening, Mauer officially signed his eight-year contract in Fort Myers, Florida. Everyone, especially Mauer, seemed very happy during the press conference. One funny moment was when Justin Morneau got a hold of the microphone and Mauer said “No comment”. This was the fourth largest contract in Major League Baseball’s recent history.

This is good news for the Twins and fans. We need not worry about Joe leaving anytime soon. I am however interested in your reaction about the amount paid for him to stay. Worth it or too much? Did he decide to stay because Twins had the biggest offer?
