A Not-So-Royal Weekend After All

For some people, Friday was a day for celebration since Prince William of England got married to Kate Middleton (big deal!). But for me, the whole royal wedding excitement was pretty much a huge joke.  First of all, it was at 5 a.m. Who wants to get up at 5 a.m. to watch a wedding? And then, you could get up even earlier to watch all the pre-wedding stuff (as if 5 a.m. wasn’t early enough!). Second, the whole thing was WAY overhyped. It’s just a wedding and it gets on the covers of all these national magazines!

You’re probably wondering by now, what’s the baseball connection? Well, here it is. This weekend, the Twins played the Kansas City Royals (Royals–get it!) and got swept. On Friday and Saturday, the Royals came back late in the game to win. On Saturday, the Royals scored 8 runs in the 8th inning! On Sunday, defensive errors again cost the Twins. So it was a pretty ugly weekend for Twins fans (but don’t panic!).

Hopefully, the Twins will start playing better baseball when they start getting healthy. After a royal (for some!) start to the weekend, it turned out to be quite the opposite for Twins fans.

  1. Dear Sam

Ahem. I think you can love a good royal wedding and the Twins. I woke before the crack of dawn to gather with my girlfriends, eat scones with lemon curd and drink tea all while curled under blankets to watch THE WEDDING!

I have to say, having just sat through two miserable Twins games the day before and then watching them fall apart with the Royals, it was a lot more fun than our boys this past weekend.

P.S. I can send you the Royal Wedding link on YouTube if you secretly want to see it… 🙂

    • You both need a nap. ROCK ON
